Norwegian natural gas outages continue, impact revised to 17.6 mil cu m, Jan 4

The unplanned outages at Norway's Kvitebjorn and Aasta Hansteen gas fields continued into Friday with a combined volume impact of 17.6 million cu m, lowered from 25.6 million cu m expected earlier in the day, Norwegian transmission system operator Gassco said Friday afternoon.

Start-up problems continued at the new Asta Hansteen field causing a volume impact of 12 million cu m Friday, with the works now expected to finish January 25.

The duration of the event has repeatedly been extended, with the previous revision putting it at 2-3 weeks from the start of the event on December 18.

Meanwhile, Kvitebjorn's within-day volume impact was revised to 5.6 million cu m, from 13.6 million cu m earlier in the day, with no day-ahead impact expected, Gassco said Friday afternoon.

Total Norwegian gas pipeline exports were seen at 334 million cu m/d at 1515 GMT, roughly steady with the flows seen around the same time Thursday, data from S&P Global Platts Analytics showed.
