Equinor and Partners Invest $269M to Increase Oil From Gullfaks

Equinor ASA (EQNR) said Tuesday that it and its partners will invest a total of 2.3 billion Norwegian kroner ($269 million) in the North Sea's Gullfaks field to recover more oil.

Equinor is operator of the field with Petoro and OMV AG (OMV.VI) as partners, and they will now drill seven new wells, improving oil recovery by 17 million barrels.

Production started on Gullfaks in December 1986 and the field life was originally expected to run to 2005. However, after an initial extension, a plan for a further extension to 2034 was approved.
