BHP Group Ltd. chalked up an 87% rise in first-half net profit but sounded a warning over the U.S.-China trade conflict.

BHP, the world's largest listed miner by market value, posted a profit of $3.76 billion in the six months through December, its best first-half number in four years and up sharply from the year-earlier $2.02 billion.
