EIA: US crude inventories up 6.8 million bbl

US crude oil inventories for the week ended May 31, excluding the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, increased by 6.8 million bbl from the previous week, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration.

At 483.3 million bbl, US crude oil inventories are 6% above the 5-year average for this time of year, the report indicated.

US refinery inputs averaged 16.9 million b/d for the week ended May 31, about 171,000 b/d more than the previous week’s average. Refineries operated at 91.8% of capacity.

US crude oil imports averaged 7.9 million b/d, up by 1.07 million b/d from the previous week.
