SOCAR's STAR refinery to buy 1 million tons of oil from Rosneft

Moscow, Neftegaz.RU. The STAR Turkish refinery, controlled by SOCAR Turkye Enerji, will purchase 1 million tons of the Russian Urals blend from Rosneft.

At the initial stage, the plant will purchase a batch of Urals oil from Rosneft, the volume of purchases will be 1 million tons. This is about 1/10 of the annual processing plant.

M. Ilter noted that in the current year the volume of oil refining at the STAR refinery will be about 8 million tons, and in subsequent years will increase to 10 million tons per year.

The plant will annually produce 1.6 million tons of petroleum alcohol, 1.6 million tons of jet fuel, 4.8 million tons of diesel fuel with a very low sulfur content, 700 thousand tons of petroleum coke, 420 thousand tons of mixed xylene, 480 thousand tons of reformate and 160 thousand tons of sulfur. The refinery's activities will provide the Petkim petrochemical complex with raw materials and will create conditions for SOCAR to enter the Mediterranean market with its diesel and jet fuel, as well as raw materials for the chemical industry.

The total investment in the STAR refinery project amounted to $ 6.3 billion, of which 3.3 billion came from loans. In the medium term, additional investments in refineries will amount to another $ 700 million. SOCAR expects that the annual income from the activities of STAR refineries will be $ 500 million.
