Worldwide offshore rig count in July up 45 rigs year-over-year

The worldwide offshore rig count in July 2019 went up by 10 units compared to June, and 45 year over year, according to monthly rig count reports by Baker Hughes, a GE company.

BHGE splits its rig counts into international and North America rig counts, which combined make the worldwide rig count.

The worldwide offshore rig count for July 2019 was 283, up 10 from 273 in June 2019 and up 45 from 238 in July 2018.

Baker Hughes said on Wednesday that the international rig count for July 2019 was 1,162, up 24 from the 1,138 counted in June 2019, and up 165 from the 997 counted in July 2018.

The international offshore rig count for July 2019 was 255, up 9 from the 246 counted in June 2019, and up 38 from the 217 counted in July 2018.

Regionally, Asia Pacific had the highest number of offshore rigs in July totaling 94, down 1 from June 2019 and up 3 from 91 in July 2018.

The Middle East region held the second place in the number of offshore rigs during July totaling 57, up 3 from June 2019 and up 11 from last July’s total of 46.

Next up was Europe with 52, then Latin America with 33, and finally Africa with 19 offshore rigs in July 2019.

In North America, the offshore rig count in July 2019 totaled 28, up 1 rig from the month before and up 7 from 21 counted in June 2018.

The average U.S. rig count for July 2019 was 955, down 14 from the 969 counted in June 2019, and down 95 from the 1,050 counted in July 2018.

The average Canadian rig count for July 2019 was 121, up 7 from the 114 counted in June 2019, and down 83 from the 204 counted in July 2018.

The worldwide rig count for July 2019 was 2,238, up 17 from the 2,221 counted in June 2019, and down 13 from the 2,251 counted in July 2018.
