US Oil, Gas Sector to Benefit from Higher Oil Prices: Fitch Ratings

Rising oil prices on the back of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East will benefit U.S. oil and gas companies, says Brian Coulton, chief economist at Fitch Ratings. Speaking at the rating agency's 2020 credit outlook event on Wednesday, he says the U.S. is a net beneficiary of rising oil prices and that the economic shock from high oil prices has weakened lately. Still, he doesn't expect a "response" in capital expenditure in the oil sector. Fitch Ratings' price assumption for Brent oil is around $63 a barrel in 2020.
