North Sea Kraken Production Increases|

Kraken production efficiency has increased “materially” following the resumption of a two-train operation in mid-March, EnQuest has revealed.

In an operations update published on Thursday, the company highlighted that production at the asset averaged in excess of 33,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) in March and April, compared to 23,000 bopd during the first two months of the year.

EnQuest said it expects Kraken to deliver average production in line with guidance of between 30,000 and 35,000 bopd in 2019.

“FPSO performance at Kraken has improved significantly with two trains online and we continue to drive further improvements with the FPSO operator,” EnQuest Chief Executive, Amjad Bseisu, said in a company statement.

“Production from DC4 at Kraken has been better than expected,” he added.

The Kraken development is one of the largest development projects undertaken in recent years in the UK North Sea, according to EnQuest’s website. Kraken, which is expected to have a field life of over 20 years, is the largest single asset in EnQuest’s portfolio.

EnQuest is a production and development company with operations in the UK North Sea and Malaysia. The company was formed in 2010 through the combination of the UK North Sea assets of Petrofac and Lundin Petroleum.
