Baker Hughes: US rig count down 11 units to 806

The overall US rig dropped 11 units the week ended Nov. 15 to reach 806 units according to Baker Hughes’ calculation of active US rigs. The count is down from the 1,082 rigs running one year ago.

Rigs drilling for oil were down 10 units to 674 rigs compared with last week, while those rigs targeting natural gas were down a single unit to 129 rigs.

The US offshore rig count was down a single unit from last week to 22. This count is unchanged year-over-year. On land, the count was down 9 rigs to reach 784 units this week.

Among the major oil and gas-producing states, Ohio gained 2 rigs this week to 13. New Mexico and Oklahoma each gained 1 unit to 105 and 52, respectively.

Two states were unchanged this week, namely California, 15, and Alaska, 8.

With a 5-rig loss, Texas stood at 408 rigs running for the week.

Louisiana, Wyoming, and West Virginia each lost 1 unit to respective counts of 54, 30, and 13.

North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Utah each lost 1 unit to respective counts of 50, 24, 23, and 4.

In Canada, the overall rig count decreased 6 units this week to 134. Rigs drilling for oil dropped by 9 units at 88 and those targeting gas rose 3 units to 46. The total count is down 63 units from this time a year ago when 197 rigs were working.
